“I'm Rachel Lamont, and I've been an esthetician for over 20 years. My journey in the esthetic industry is what led me to establish my very own holistic spa, The Natural Art of Skin Care.

It all began at the esteemed Hyatt Regency Spa in Toronto, where I was thriving as a top-tier Laser Technician. Life was extraordinary, with a great income, a new love in my life, and access to cutting-edge laser technology, a very popular modality in the skin care industry!

However, my prolonged exposure to lasers was beginning to affect my body, leading to a series of health issues that left me bewildered and anxious about the side effects. I started to not feel like myself at all. I was chronically tired, odd illnesses were popping up more and more frequently and were overlapping each other, which led me to be on several different medications at once. But how? I had no idea what was going on with my health, considering I'm a healthy eater and sleeper, I exercise, but no matter what, I felt horrible. Naturally, this raised many questions, but the C-word kept circulating in my mind. This journey unveiled an irregular goitre growth on my thyroid, which was thankfully proven to be non-cancerous but was the cause of my distress. After surgery to remove the mass, it took several challenging years to recover fully, and I had to make some serious changes.

I reevaluated my lifestyle and environment and made significant changes. I left the laser room behind and got to work, eliminating all toxins from my everyday products, including my skin and hair care products, makeup, and household items. As I delved deeper into the world of holistic thinking and natural products, I was shocked by the prevalence of harmful chemicals, preservatives, and otherwise counter-intuitive ingredients in our everyday products. I questioned their impact on my health and sought out cleaner alternatives. However, it was the lack of readily available clean products in the mainstream market at the time that inspired me to create my very own spa, a space to share my knowledge and act as a guide for others on their very own holistic journeys, where anyone can find clean and effective products they love. Thus, The Natural Art of Skin Care was born!
